Carrying on with the running clubs 10k League this weekend meant getting the night shift done and heading down the motorway for 45 minutes to Staveley. I got down to Staveley early had a drive through the village and saw the car park sign. It was a grass field with a closed gate. So I popped the gate open parked up and had a sleep in the car, well think I did not the most comfortable place to sleep. The car park filled up quickly and I headed down to the village hall to pick up my number.
Staveley is a very nice village which really looked good on a sunny Sunday morning with no traffic and just the village hall full of volunteers and runners picking up race numbers. I picked up my number then had a look round for some team mates. I found a big group there and I said hello had a bit of a chat and went for a warm up along the race route. I went about 3k’s out then back. I saw lots of people getting ready to watch out in the the sunshine, plenty of bunting along the village part of the route. I made it back to the starting point, found a place and waited for the gun. The run had no timing chips so I keep an eye on my watch. We went off dead on time the route took me out of the village and down some foot paths through wood land on to farm tracks over grass on roads. It had a bit of everything. The views when running where all good there was one very hard bit which was a 1km up hill clime which felt it went on for ever. It had a nice down hill finish though, banking round passed the Church finishing at the village hall. I made it round in 48 minutes and came home with a nice mug, bacon sandwich and new run to do next year..
